In today`s environment, we spend most of our time sitting at home, or at the office, and don`t spend enough time being active and moving. Sitting for too long has become a major problem. When we sit in the same place for too long, our muscles begin to atrophy. This can lead to serious injuries if we aren`t careful. One option to curtail this sitting problem is the standing desk. A standing desk allows you to stand at your desk, with your computer and keyboard raised up to the standing position. Using a standing desk is far healthier than sitting, and will also burn up to three times as many calories.
Typically, mobile computer workstations and carts have the smallest footprint of any desks taking up a minimal amount of space. Obviously, the most desirable features is their ability to be easily moved anywhere in your house. These desks have plenty of room for your computer equipment along with an extra shelve or two for any peripherals or books.
Ergonomically designed chairs are today the rage of the corporate world, and for good reason. Besides the obvious benefits in seating, the chairs also add a lot of PR value, showcasing that the company takes care of its employees and does not mind spending a little more for their comfort. This leads to differentiation between companies that are close rivals in a hot market. This is another often invisible benefit that ergonomic chairs provide.
The main disadvantage of a height adjustable desk is cost. Unfortunately they don`t come cheap and an entry-level model will set you back at least $500. However, this is a big improvement on a few years ago where a four figure outlay was the norm. You may also need to extend some of the cables and leads to your equipment if the standard ones aren`t long enough. This is pretty easy to resolve with either extension leads or slightly longer cables. If you can cross these two hurdles then there is no reason not to switch to a sit stand desk.
Often business owners find that as the business grows, their original office begins to feel cramped for space. Growing and moving office spaces is all part of successful business development but sometimes simpler, and cheaper, solutions can be found to save space. This may be a rethink of the office layout, or the implementation of a more efficient office storage system.
